Oman Air Expands Horizons with Direct Flights to Rome

Starting December 20, 2024, Oman Air will launch direct flights between Muscat and Rome, marking the airline’s first route expansion in five years – what an incredible win this is for their customers. Today it is Rome, but who knows where Oman Air could take us tomorrow!

The new service will operate four times a week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Flights will depart Muscat at 3 PM, arriving in Rome at 7:30 PM—just in time for a delightful after-dinner gelato. The return flight leaves Rome at 8:30 PM, landing in Muscat at 5:45 AM. While that might seem a bit early, it connects seamlessly to their direct flights to Bangkok. Plus, if you’re stopping over in Muscat, you’ll still have the whole day ahead of you—just make sure to catch some rest on the plane!

Oman Air will operate this route with their Boeing 737-8 MAX, featuring both an economy and business class cabin. The business class seats on this aircraft do not lie-flat, but instead have a sliding recline feature– more than adequate for a day flight. However, if you are after a little more comfort on the night flight, you may want to consider travelling back from Milan instead on one of Oman Air’s Boeing 787-9. This aircraft is equipped with a 2-2-2 configuration, lie-flat beds, and direct aisle access for all passengers.
